Aims and Missions
Who are we and what do we do? We are a group of intensivists working in different countries that share a passion and interest in haemodymics and cardiac failure. We believe that supporting education and research in these fields can make the difference for our patients. Our mission is to increase the knowledge and the ability of clinicians to deal with haemodynamic problems in intensive care, as well as to produce and support research.

Activities
Over the last few years we have been very active. We have organised many sessions for the annual congress. We have been able to provide up to date programmes that have gone from pathophysiology to treatment, from microcirculation to macro haemodynamics, and from echocardiography to haemodynamic monitoring.
On top of this, we offer postgraduate courses on advanced haemodynamic monitoring and echocardiography.
During our meetings, a number of interesting topics are covered in thematic sessions (haemodynamic monitoring, education and training in cardiovascular monitoring, acute heart failure and modern approaches, etc.). Many other issues in the field of modern cardiovascular management are discussed.
We have three working groups: -Haemodynamic Monitoring, -Echocardiography -Arrhythmias.
Anyone interested in helping with the work of the Section or getting involved with the research interests of the Section can contact directly Maurizio Cecconi. We encourage you to participate in the Section meetings and will be delighted to welcome you in Brussels (ISICEM) and in Lisbon (ESICM) in 2012.
